Some of our teachers wanted to share their experience as a French teacher with you:
Benjamin Vacher (French Teacher at LFNY):
I am a native French speaker originally from Saint Etienne. I lived in London for 2 years and then in San Francisco for four years where I gave my first French lessons. My teaching approach is centered on the student and on his/her language needs and expectations. In addition, from my own teaching experiences with adolescents and adults, I have noticed that working on student's errors is one of the best ways to improve and to understand one's language learning. Finally, mixing fun/communicative and traditional approaches is also my teaching asset. I enjoy mixing humour , fun and learning : it makes the language learning much easier.I have a strong sense of professionalism and I want to make sure that my students succeed. Their challenge is also my challenge, that is why my teaching work has always been very appreciated. I like to verify regularly if my students feel like they are improving and what they like or do not like about the class so I can customize the class to their needs.
Sarah De Burgh (French Teacher at LFNY)
My name is Sarah, I am a native French speaker. (born and raised in Paris). I teach on a one on one basis as well as small groups of students. I can help with grammar, conjugation, reading/vocab and conversational skills. I usually leave it up to the student to decide what kind of method they want to use. Right now I am working with a text book and a literature book from marguerite duras. I give a little homework and also with cool movies in French to watch!
Christelle Gérand (French Teacher at LFNY)
I'm living in New York since last November. I'm working as a journalist for France Amérique, the French newspaper the most read in the United States. I'm graduated in history and philosophy, and taught French during the evenings for two years. I really love my native language, and I will be happy to share it with you ! I'm patient and I like to explain. See you soon !
Salwa Fassi (French Teacher at LFNY):
Bonjour! My name is Salwa. I was born in Paris and spent most of my life between France and Morocco where my parents moved when I was 10. I moved back again to Paris after graduating from high school and attended the Classes Preparatoires aux Grandes Ecoles de Commerce followed by business school. Even though I majored in Math and Finance, my passion for languages has always been there. I speak five languages including English, Spanish, Italian and Arabic and enjoy sharing this passion with anyone interested in learning about French and the french culture. I have been teaching French for several years now and really enjoy the experience, in particular, the one-on-one tutoring classes. They give me the opportunity to adapt my lessons content to the students' level and needs. Your French will improve significantly if we study together so I am looking forward to meeting you very soon. Alors, à bientôt!
Stéphanie Alloh (French teacher at LFNY):
Bonjour, comment allez-vous?
My name is Stephanie. I'm a native French speaker. I'm living in New York since last October. I lived and worked in France for 8 years where I obtained my Master degree in Finance. I taught French to children between 10 and 15 years.
I can help you to improve your French by different learning methods (conversation, reading, dictation) and I'll give you a little homework.
So I hope to meet you very soon and share with you my love and my passion of France.
A bientôt!
